PlayTime Eliminated from Dota 2 EWC After DarkMago and Vintage Face ESIC Probe

PlayTime is out of EWC 2026 after ESIC suspended DarkMago and Vintage. The probe ends a breakthrough run for the South American Dota 2 roster.

PlayTime eliminated from Dota 2 EWC after DarkMago and Vintage face ESIC probe marks a sudden end to their campaign. The Esports Integrity Commission provisionally suspended both members over suspected anti-corruption code breaches. Therefore, this promising South American roster cannot continue in the tournament.

Why PlayTime Eliminated from Dota 2 EWC After DarkMago and Vintage Face ESIC Probe

ESIC announced the suspensions on July 14. This occurred hours after organizers postponed their match against Vici Gaming due to an integrity issue. The measures took effect immediately.

However, ESIC stated these are precautionary steps rather than findings of guilt. They aim to safeguard competition integrity and preserve evidence. Both individuals were interviewed and given a chance to respond.

Currently, the commission will not disclose further details. They will wait until meaningful progress occurs or new measures are necessary.

Suspension Scope and Restrictions

Both members are barred from all ESIC competitions during the investigation. Yet, Vintage faces wider restrictions as sporting director.

His ban prohibits coaching, management, or strategic support functions. Effectively, he is cut off from any event involvement. DarkMago remains one of South America’s most decorated mid laners.

He previously achieved a top-6 finish at The International 2022 with Thunder Awaken. Vintage joined him from the former paiN Gaming roster. PlayTime signed that squad in May 2026.

A Rapid Rise Ends Abruptly

The timing is striking given PlayTime’s rapid ascent. The organization entered the circuit in January 2026. First, they tried a Southeast Asian roster that underperformed.

Then, the pivot to the ex-paiN lineup paid dividends. They secured a top-6 finish at DreamLeague Season 29. Consequently, they qualified directly for the Dota 2 EWC.

With key members barred, PlayTime forfeited their Survival Stage match. Vici Gaming advanced without playing to face 1w Team next. Sadly, PlayTime’s EWC campaign is now over.

Unverified Rumors and Next Steps

ESIC has not disclosed specific alleged violations. Neither body linked the probe to a particular match. Community speculation centers on potential match-fixing, but rumors remain unverified.

Additionally, a separate Doom hero bug rumor existed for the postponed match. Valve later fixed this glitch. Whether this relates to the integrity review remains unclear.

Finally, the investigation remains active and open-ended. Provisional suspensions stay until ESIC modifies or lifts them. No timeline exists for a final finding.

Remaining roster members are not implicated. Future participation depends on the outcome and organizational decisions. The Survival Stage continues on July 15 with adjusted matches.
