Learn how to get $100 in free ChatGPT credits by posting about GPT-5.6 on X. This limited reward is available to the first 10,000 verified users only.

Update, October 21, 2026: OpenAI’s $100 GPT-5.6 Codex credit offer has ended. The separate ChatGPT Work offer used the same first 10,000 claims format. This page explains how both programs worked and where each official claim form was. OpenAI’s claim forms are the only reliable status check. Never pay a third party for a credit claim.

OpenAI has run two $100 ChatGPT credit promotions in 2026. Both promised $100 to the first 10,000 eligible users who published a real post about their experience. They were separate campaigns with different claim forms, different eligible products, and different posting requirements.

This guide covers both offers, the eligibility rules they shared, and the steps claimants had to follow. It also explains how to spot a fake claim page.

Offer 1: the GPT-5.6 Codex credits

OpenAI rewarded the first 10,000 paid users who posted an original story about GPT-5.6 on X. The $100 credit could be used on Go, Plus, or Pro plans, or toward ChatGPT Work and Codex usage. Claims were reviewed within 24 hours.

Step 1: Post original content about GPT-5.6

The post had to be unique. Reposts and copied content did not qualify. OpenAI suggested two angles: explain a specific improvement you noticed, such as faster iteration or better reasoning on complex problems, or explain why you switched from another model.

Step 2: Copy the direct post URL

The link had to point to the individual post, not a profile. A valid URL looked like https://x.com/yourhandle/status/[numbers].

Step 3: Submit through the official form

Claimants entered their ChatGPT email and the post URL at switch-to-codex.openai.chatgpt.site. They also confirmed an active plan and ownership of the post. The form was scheduled to close once 10,000 submissions were verified.

Step 4: Wait for approval

OpenAI checked paid status and post ownership. Approved users received an email with a redemption link, usually within 24 hours.

Current status: This offer has ended. A later AImagazine guide, published after the ChatGPT Work launch, confirmed that the GPT-5.6 Codex campaign was closed.

Offer 2: the ChatGPT Work credits

Greg Brockman announced the second promotion on July 20, 2026. It targeted ChatGPT Work users rather than general ChatGPT subscribers. The reward was again $100, limited to the first 10,000 eligible participants, with one claim per person.

Instead of a GPT-5.6 review, this campaign asked for a real example of how you used ChatGPT Work. The post had to be public and had to explain what you did and what others could learn from it.

Step 1: Publish a real ChatGPT Work story

OpenAI accepted posts on X or LinkedIn. Private posts, profile pages, and unrelated content were disqualified. Duplicate submissions per email or per social post were also rejected.

Step 2: Submit the email and post link

The official form was share-chatgpt-work.openai.chatgpt.site. Claimants entered their ChatGPT email and the direct URL of the public post.

Step 3: Wait for review

OpenAI reviewed each entry for originality and genuine product use. Approved users received email instructions for claiming the credits.

Current status: OpenAI has not published a closing notice for this campaign. The official form is the only reliable way to check whether it is still accepting entries. If the form is closed, treat the offer as unavailable.

Rules both offers shared

  • The reward was $100 in account credits, not cash.
  • Only the first 10,000 verified submissions qualified.
  • One claim was allowed per person or account.
  • The post had to be public and original.
  • The claimant had to own the post and the ChatGPT account.
  • Approval was not automatic. OpenAI reviewed each submission.

How to spot a fake credit claim page

Both campaigns used an openai.chatgpt.site address. That is a real OpenAI domain used for these forms. Fake pages often use lookalike domains, ask for a password, or request payment.

OpenAI’s claim forms did not ask for a password. They did not charge a fee. They did not require a wallet connection or a download. If a page asks for any of those, close it.

The safest path is to start from OpenAI’s own announcement or the link in the email OpenAI sent you. Do not rely on a link from a reply, a direct message, or a paid ad.

What to do if you missed the offers

There is no waitlist or guaranteed next round. OpenAI has not announced a third $100 credit promotion. The practical options are to watch OpenAI’s official accounts and the ChatGPT release notes, and to avoid anyone selling a supposed claim link.

Frequently asked questions

Are the $100 ChatGPT credits still available?

The GPT-5.6 Codex offer has ended. OpenAI has not published a closing notice for the ChatGPT Work offer, so check the official form for its current status. If the form is closed, the offer is no longer available.

Were the two $100 offers the same campaign?

No. They were separate promotions. The first required a public post about GPT-5.6 on X. The second required a public ChatGPT Work story on X or LinkedIn. Each had its own claim form.

Did users have to pay for the credits?

No. The credits were free to eligible users who met the posting and verification rules. OpenAI did not charge a fee, and no legitimate claim page asked for a password or payment.

How long did verification take?

OpenAI said approved claims would arrive within 24 hours after verification. The review checked paid status, post ownership, and whether the post was original and public.

Can I still submit an old post?

Only if the official form is still open and the post meets the campaign rules. A post published before the campaign, a private post, or a repost does not qualify. If the form has closed, the campaign is over.
